The third edition of the Barcelona Generative Art Exhibition (MagBa) was born with a look back in order to find new paths forward. Under the title Origins, the exhibition proposed a dialogue between pioneering works from the 1970s and contemporary practices of generative art.
Featured among these modern explorations was Flowr, an infinite generative series that explores the way nature creates forms. Each piece serves as a variation of the same underlying system: just as in nature, everything looks alike, but nothing is ever identical. Stripped down to its core elements, the series poses a compelling question to the viewer: Can flowers be beautiful if they’re strictly geometric? And if they have no color?
